Our wheelie first blog!

I am not sure what I am supposed to be talking about in a blog... why do I have to blog?
Am I doing it just because the social media experts and my web developer are telling me that it is 'essential' for my business? How can I blog about wheelie bins? What on earth am I going to talk about and more importantly, who really cares anyway?

So, I started to do a little research into wheelie bins and think about what I can blog about... stuff I hadn't done since we first decided to start the business nearly 4 years ago. It really is amazing what google throws back at you after searching 'wheelie bins' and 'wheelie bin trivia'.

The history of wheelie bins, the wikipedia definition, waste management issues, how many pound coins can you fit inside a wheelie bin is just the first page! The other thing that I find amazing is how the humble wheelie bin has become a huge part of crime not only in Australia but throughout the world! People steal bins, people use wheelie bins to steal other things and there are alot of really nasty, front page crime reports that involve wheelie bins!

We all know that wheelie bins are ugly, bland and really boring. They smell and breed maggots. We fight about who is taking the bin out and then who will bring it in again. Who cares about their wheelie bin? I suppose the only thing I care about is trying to make them beautiful.

What does amaze me is how much pride people take in their homes and their gardens, the amount of money they spend to make their home environment look beautiful... then go and stick an ugly, green bin right in the middle of it!

Love em or hate em, we all have them. Millions of them. They are everywhere... millions and millions and millions of them. At home, at work, inside and out, green ones, yellow ones, red ones, big ones, small ones... so doesn't it make sense to make our wheelie bins look beautiful too?

I am a designer to trade... I like art, I like beautifully designed things. Can a wheelie bin become a beautiful thing?
It's all about fun too. Having a bit of a laugh... that's what wheeliedesigns.com is all about.

I am going to go and do some more wheelie research and the sad thing is, I am actually finding it really interesting!

Until next time...
