Originally from Adelaide where she completed a Bachelor of Design (Hon) majoring in Illustration, Caroline now lives in Cairns with her young family. She has exhibited extensively in group and solo shows both locally and nationally since 2006.
Her style is figurative and feminine comprised of bold colours, textured backgrounds and delicate line-work with much of it painted on recycled materials, wood and found objects. She sees beauty in the broken and embraces the imperfections that are too often discarded. The sustainable side of her practice enables her work to grow organically as often the materials themselves dictate the content facilitating new directions.
The juxtaposition of bright eye popping candy colours against old weathered surfaces continues to be a prominent feature alongside her emotionally charged themes. The sweet and saccharine reveal darker undercurrents upon closer inspection where her characters strengths and vulnerabilities intertwine.
